GETTING A LOT OF SUPPORT

What I want to blog about this week is the fact that I am getting soooo much support from my family, friends and co-workers. It really feels good to go back to work after I have been out walking and have my co-workers say "Amanda, you inspire me to go walking." It makes me feel so incredibly good to hear that.

This week has been really good. I have still been walking but this week i am walking 25 minutes and doing 12 push-ups. The girls I have been walking with have not been able to walk this week but that hasn't stopped me. I am going out there and walking anyways. There are a few other of my co-workers that have started walking too and so I have been walking with them.

Eating healthier has been going pretty good. I have been eating fruits and veggies as a snack through out the day and for lunch I made my own chicken wraps. I took whole wheat wraps and put chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and a drizzle of lite ranch dressing in it. It was awesome, low fat and low carbs. My sister is the one who gave me the idea and so I want to say thank you very much sis!

I'M ON THE RIGHT TRACK

This was definitely my best week ever and I am really proud of myself. I worked out three times this week during my lunch hour and I have been eating healthier, cutting out bad snacks and eating smaller meals.

I have had a lot of support from my family, my friends and my co-workers!! To be honest I need the support and am so glad that everyone has been so great about giving it.

Today as I walked with my co-worker I was telling her that this is the most I have exercised in at least 6 months or more. Now how sad is that? Really sad huh? So I think that this shows that I am on the right track to a healthier life.

This is my year...I am claiming it as MINE!! I am getting thin in 2010.

I AM WORKING IT OUT!!

The last two days I have been
walking with two of my co-workers and they really push me and I love it. Yesterday we did 10 laps around the gym and then 10  push ups. Today we did 4 laps around the football field and then 10 push ups. They have been walking for two weeks now so they are faster than I am and they jog a little sometimes. You can see in the picture they are quit a bit ahead of me but when they would get to the corners they would walk in place and wait for me. But they encourage me and support me the whole time!! They really give me a lot of motivation when my lungs are burning and my thighs were screaming "STOP, PLEASE JUST STOP". I am so proud of myself even if I am sore as ever. So we are going to walk again tomorrow. Three days a week for about a month and then we will go to four days a week.

Another subject I want to bring up is Dr. Oz and his web site. I haven't had a chance to see his show but two people have told me that his show and website were both really good. So the other day I went to Dr.Oz.com and checked out his website. I found it very interesting and useful. He has these Challenges on there and they even have an "Action Plan" to help you along the way. I thought that was really helpful because it is like having an instruction sheet on how to do the challenge. So if you took the "Salt Detox Challenge", which is a 28 day challenge, it gives you a week by week plan on what to do to cut the salt from your life. How cool is that? I really like written instructions they are much easier to follow. So if you get a chance check out his web site and let me know what you think.

I ACTUALLY DID IT!! I WORKED OUT!!

Well, I did the stair stepper for 10 minutes this morning. I know, I know... "just 10 minutes?" But for me to do any type of excercise is good. So... I am so excited that I did that much. That was early this morning and then this evening me and my daughter did some more working out. We did some hula hooping, jogging and some yoga. It felt so good and I was actually liked doing it.

My daughter is great! She encourages me and always gives me high fives when I am doing good. I really have the best workout partner because she pushes me when I want to quit. I love my little baby cheetah.

Now that I have started I am really excited to continue and can't wait to do it tomorrow. Weird I know but I am on a totally natural high from the exercising. I love it.

THIS IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS

Oh my!! I guess I was thrown off by the fact that I had to go back to work after being off for two weeks. So I was not prepared today when I went back to work today. I forgot to take my Kelloggs nutritional drink that I want to use as my 10:00am snack to give me a little pick me up. Then I left my 32oz cup that I use to drink my water out of at home too. But even with those set backs I made sure not to snack on anything unhealthy until about 3:00pm when someone came around with chocolate covered graham crackers and I didn't say "No" like I was supposed to. So I had one of those.

Then when I got home my husband told me that he had a surprise for dinner and he placed a plate of huge BBQ beef ribs and green beans sauted in garlic butter. OH MAN!! My husband cooks good and I knew those ribs were going to taste fabulous. I couldn't disappoint him by not eating them so I dug in and WOW they were great. He cooked them in the crock pot for 10 hours then basted them with a  BBQ Sauce he made himself and broiled them for about 5 minutes. I only ate three of them because they were so big and I made myself stop when I felt that "FULL" feeling.

So what I have learned today is that I need to be more prepared and organized. I need to be sure to get everything ready at night. I also learned that I need to remind my husband that I am on a diet and if he needs to cook healthier foods.

A side note that I would like to add is that my sister and I are going to be working together to make the changes we need to lose the weight. We are trying to organize a email ring of friends and family that want to lose weight. Everyone checks in each day, sends out motivations, shares recipes and support to the others. I am so excited about doing this. Great idea sister.

The Begining of the Rest of My Life

Today is the 3rd day of January 2010 and I just turned 41 years old. I just recently watched Julie and Julia and that is what has inspired to start a blog. We just got a Wii for Christmas so I have decided to incorporate that into my weight loss at well. I am using the Wii to help me get up and start exercising and maybe lose some weight. Just like in the movie I am giving my self a deadline of one year to accomplish 3 things:

1.) Exercise at least 3-4 times a week
2.) Eat healthier
3.) Eat less food

Today I am starting over with my life and making changes for me.

Please be sure to send me comments and wishes. I need all positive and NO negative.

So here we go.
